I've gone up 5 ranks already. It's very easy to gain ranks, due to there being 43 of them. I've gotten all the sniper upgrades for the recon unit. I also got the defibilator for the medic half of the assault unit, so I can revive people. I think for my next few unlocks, I'm going to get player abilities, such as nades and extra sprint. Although, I get nades very quick in battle due to field upgrades.
I've also adjusted to the "craziness" of battle, and have been getting 30 point rounds instead of 12. It's like Battlefield 2, but times 10. For anyone who gets it within the next few weeks, make sure to get the patches. If you don't, I doubt you'll find a server with your version.

If you don't download the patch for that reason, then you'll never download it.
The way I see it, games should make people download the patches. That way everyone is playing the same version of the game, resulting in the game lasting longer.
If people keep staying in older versions, then each time a patch comes out people will keep staying until only a few people remain in the new updated servers.
Just like Battlefront. Only... with more patches.

At least Batlefield 2142 tells you when there is a new patch out, and it gives you a link to where you can get it. Of course, x-fire has automatically updated my Battlefield 2 game to 1.41, the most recent patch. Maybe it'll do it for Battlefield 2142. Also, I think during the registration of the game, it asked if you want it to automatically update, or something. Doesn't matter to me. I'll just update whenever it says a new patch is out. Doesn't take me longer than 5 minutes to get most patches, depending on how much stuff they fix. 1.05 fixed like 30 things.

That new patch had some good fixes on it. I was gettin' sick of people movin' the Titans when thier shields were down. The lag was... well, it was like I was trippin' off acid and I couldn't even tell where I was, or where I'd end up 2 seconds from now.

Ugh, I know. I haven't played one full titan mission without being lagged out.

Another patch has been released for Battlefield 2142. This is patch 1.06. battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf/This patch fixes the problem with some players experiencing crashes during the explosion of a titan.

'Tis nice to know EA is releasing patches that fix bugs, and not ones that introduce new problems.

Oh yes it is. In fact, I actually got to complete a titan match yesterday. We lost, (my team was a bunch of noobs new to the game), but I got the highest score of 60 points. I even managed a 77 point game last night. Got myself quite a few rewards last night.

I stopped playing 2142 for a week, and now I suck ass. Lol, this kind of thing always happens to me...
Anyway, I've done a few Titan maps before the patches. The only time I really lagged was when we went to attack the Titan itself.

I get a couple seconds of lag when the map switches from outside to inside the titan. But it only happens once.

Lol.
What surprises me is that people cannot fly gunships. I'm friggin' awesome in them, but anytime I let someone else fly, we crash or get blown to bits in 5 seconds. Although they did make AA guns more powerful. (Dang EMP missiles...)

In Battlefield 2, I couldn't fly worth crap. But in 2142, I'm actually pretty decent. Could use some work on landing, but other than that I can keep my ship up in the air, despite the crap everyone rains down on me. But you're right, a lot of n00bs can't fly.
Also, people have very itchy "punish for TK" trigger fingers. They run into your tank, you get punished. They run into your line of fire, you get punished. You throw a 'nade, they run into it and die; you get punished. It's retarded.

Ugh, I know. I'm lucky that I get into servers where there are actually mature players who don't punish for accidents and don't spawn camp with a walker. Oh I want to kill those people who spawn camp with a walker with a supply box giving them unlimited health.
But on the flying, I was amazing in a heli. Gunships are pretty much like it, except that fly straight like a jet. I wish at least people would get in the gunner position. It's a lot harder to get infantry with missiles than it was in Battlefield 2.
